NBA Star #4: DeMar DeRozan

The Chicago Bulls’ offseason could go one of two ways. They could either double down by bringing back their existing core or look to hit the reset button. The Bulls may decide on the former, especially with limited options to improve the team and if DeMar DeRozan asks for a trade this offseason.

Despite missing the playoffs this season, the Bulls have no lottery pick to show for it thanks to a disastrous trade with the Orlando Magic. That deal has come back to haunt the team since they have given up not one but two lottery picks as well as a starting center for Nikola Vucevic, who hasn’t been the same player that he was with the Magic.

As a result, they may look to trade DeRozan to the highest bidder in hopes of recouping some of those lost assets and possibly retooling around LaVine. With only one year remaining on his contract and DeRozan being 33 years old, there may not be a big market for him, but teams such as Portland, Houston, and the Lakers may try to trade for him.

After all, he is still highly skilled at creating for himself and others, something that each of those teams could use despite his defensive limitations and lack of an outside shot. It will ultimately come down to what route the Bulls choose, but there appears to be a strong possibility he may be moved this summer.
