Miami Heat draft picks:

Fortunately for the Heat, they have a good pick in this year’s draft. Given that they drafted two of their three best players, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, in the teens, they might have similar luck with the 18th pick. As far as roster needs are concerned, the Heat could use help at point guard and power forward in the draft. Here are a few possible options:

  • Jalen Hood-Schifino
  • Kris Murray
  • Dereck Lively II

Hood-Schifino is a big point guard who is a capable shot-creator and a good defender. On the other hand, Murray, who is the brother of Sacramento Kings rookie Keegan Murray, could provide the Heat with immediate help at the four. He can defend multiple positions, knock down threes, and score in the paint.

Last but not least is Dereck Lively II, who is a behemoth 7’1 center with an eye-popping 7’7 wingspan and leaping ability. Although the Heat already have Adebayo, if Hood-Schifino and Murray are off the board, they may want to take a flyer on Lively II.

Ultimately, while the Heat’s three best players are under contract for next season, nearly half of the team will be free agents. They could still bring back most of their team, but they will have to get creative to improve their roster.
