Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics

Is Jaylen Brown truly disgruntled? The world may never know. But it’s time for the Boston Celtics to decide if the wing is going to be part of its future.

On many teams, Brown would be the undisputed top option, or a close 1A. That’s never going to be the case in Boston, where the sun and the stars will always revolve around Jayson Tatum.

Brown is another star who has been stuck in the rumor mill for years. Last summer, there was some particularly loud buzzing about him getting traded to the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant. That ended up not happening.

In recent months, Brown has been somewhat vague and noncommittal about what his future would look like in a green uniform. He’s eligible for an extension this summer – further aided by the new CBA – but he’d likely get a bigger max deal on the open market, should he want it.

Last month, Brown had this to say about his Boston future to The Ringer:

"We’ll see how they feel about me over time and I feel about them over time. Hopefully, whatever it is, it makes sense. But I will stay where I’m wanted. I will stay where I’m needed and treated correct."

Doesn’t sound like someone convinced their long-term future is in Beantown. The bricks are being built for a Jaylen Brown trade during the offseason.
