NBA stars that played for one team #16: Klay Thompson
Warriors superstar Klay Thompson is one-half of the greatest shooting backcourt in NBA history and has spent all 12 seasons with the team. Alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green, Thompson helped lead the Warriors to four championships in six seasons.
While Curry has understandably received more accolades, Thompson’s sharpshooting has made life much easier for Curry. Moreover, his defensive ability helped Golden State’s infamous small-ball lineup succeed. Without both, the Warriors wouldn’t be the NBA’s latest dynasty.
That dynasty was threatened, but he went down with an injury during the 2019 NBA Finals, which they lost. Even after Thompson missed two full seasons with an ACL tear and a torn Achilles, the Warriors never lost faith in him.
It took time, but he has returned to form in a big way. During the 2022-23 regular season, Thompson averaged an impressive 21.9 points, while shooting an incredible 41.2% on a career-high 10.6 3-point attempts per game.
He also led the NBA in made threes with 301, signaling that he has plenty still left in the tank.
