Under-the-Radar Prospect #3: Leonard Miller, G-League Ignite

Last year, Leonard Miller went from completely off of the radar to draft darling, showing out at the NBA combine and becoming a trendy name to get drafted late in the first round. With some uncertainty surrounding his stock, Miller shocked many by eschewing the 2022 draft and choosing to go to the G-League Ignite to juice his development instead.

With much of the focus, this year rightfully on Scoot Henderson, the G-League Ignite’s roster as a whole has somewhat flown under the radar. In the past two months, however, it’s been impossible to ignore Miller the prospect and player, as he’s been on an absolute tear now that his skills have started to catch up to his tools.

Miller’s gone from a lanky player who wasn’t built for contact to an impact rebounder and inside finisher in a matter of months. He’s always had a preternatural touch for a player of his size, but his recent tear has been all about him getting to simple spots on the floor and the inability of any defender to do anything to knock him out of his rhythm:

What makes Miller such a tantalizing draft prospect is that he’s both good now and hasn’t really scratched the surface of his ceiling. Right now, Miller could be a backup power forward for a number of NBA teams. If he goes somewhere that will let him develop with on-ball reps and a disciplined system, not only could Miller become an eventual starter, but could cash in his immense physical gifts and scoring touch to become a late-blooming star.
