10 Impending NBA free agents who could earn a payday down the stretch

8. Grant Williams, Boston Celtics
After a trip to the NBA Finals last year, the Boston Celtics and Grant Williams held extension talks to try and lock up the former first round pick. According to The Athletic’s Jared Weiss, the two sides had talked about a four-year deal worth $50 million, but that obviously did not happen. Williams has had an up-and-down year thus far, but he is bound to get more than the $4.3 million he is making this season regardless.
Amidst some struggles finding consistent minutes in the rotation, Williams is still averaging new career bests in points, rebounds, assists, steals, three-point makes, and minutes. He is a young player who can contribute on defense and shoot the long ball extremely well, which is why he could help the Celtics look to avenge last season’s fate. If he can get through these recent struggles and find his footing, he could be a huge piece for Boston down the line.
Due to his previously mentioned attributes, Williams is bound to get more on his next deal than he is currently making ahead of restricted free agency. No shortage of teams league-wide would love to get their hands on a young forward who can provide a spark on both sides of the court.
