7. Jalen McDaniels, Philadelphia 76ers

In a trade that somewhat flew under the radar, the Philadelphia 76ers acquired Jalen McDaniels in a three-team deal with the Charlotte Hornets and Portland Trail Blazers. Per Rich Hofmann of The Athletic, Daryl Morey, Philadelphia’s president of basketball operations, has labeled McDaniels as a “hidden gem,” and he may be onto something.

McDaniels may not be putting up the flashiest numbers in Philadelphia, as he is currently putting up 6.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 17.2 minutes per game, but he has the potential to be an impact player. The 6-foot-9 forward has shown a knack for being versatile on defense with his ability to defend multiple positions. Something like that could be incredibly valuable in high-stakes situations. There are questions regarding what McDaniels can give the 76ers on the other end, but his defensive prowess could help this team the most.

Once his $1.9 million deal for this season expires, McDaniels will hit unrestricted free agency this off-season. There will be plenty of teams looking to add a 25-year-old wing who can play good defense with plenty of room to grow. He could unquestionably get a raise in free agency if he continues to play well for the 76ers, who are in the hunt for a title.
