The defending champion Golden State Warriors find themselves in a surprising position, battling for the playoffs. Their team has struggled with consistency as well as injury, with superstar Stephen Curry missing significant time this season. The Warriors have just 20 games remaining to try and right the ship or risk missing the postseason.

Even if they do make the playoffs, they could find themselves facing difficult opponent after difficult opponent as a lower seed. That is what makes the home stretch so crucial for Golden State. They will, of course, need to get healthy first if they hope to make a run, but is Curry playing tonight?

Stephen Curry’s injury status for the LA Clippers at the Warriors on March 2

Although Curry is progressing nicely in his injury rehab for a partial tear to his superior tibiofibular ligaments, he will not play tonight against the Clippers. The Warriors are understandably cautious about bringing back their two-time MVP, and he doesn’t appear to be quite ready to return just yet. Fortunately, he will return very soon.

When is Stephen Curry coming back?

While Curry won’t play against the Clippers, he will likely suit up within the next few days. The Warriors start a three-game road trip following their game against the Clippers and Curry is expected to return on March 5th against the Lakers.

In addition to Curry, Andre Iguodala, Gary Payton II, Ryan Rollins, and Andrew Wiggins will all miss the team’s game against the Clippers. Iguadola is out because of a hip injury, Wiggins is out for personal reasons, Payton II is out because of a core muscle injury, and Rollins is out for unknown reasons. Meanwhile, Jordan Poole, who’s been filling in for Curry, is listed as probable as he recovers from a left knee contusion.

Golden State Warriors’ next 5 opponents

The Warriors begin a tough five-game stretch beginning with the Pelicans. The Warriors are currently 32-30, barely above .500 but are fifth in the West. However, they are only, 2.5 games ahead of the Lakers, who are 11th in the West and on the outside of the playoff picture.

Each of the Warriors’ next five games, six including their game against the Clippers, are against playoff teams, and they will likely need a winning record to maintain their place in the standings. Here are their next five games:

(All times are central.)

Wednesday, March 3 New Orleans at 10:00 p.m.

Thursday, March 5, at the Los Angeles Lakers at 3:30 p.m.

Sunday, March 7 at Oklahoma City Thunder at 8:00 p.m.

Tuesday, March 9 at Memphis Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday, March 11 vs. the Milwaukee Bucks at 8:30 p.m.
