Ranking each of Russell Westbrook’s many tenures
By Ari Schwartz
3. Washington Wizards
When Russ was dealt to the Wizards in the summer of 2019, no one expected more than a first-round appearance from Washington. They accomplished that goal the following season, despite perpetually failing at it since.
While Russ may not have been the dominant force he was in previous years with the Thunder, he still averaged a triple-double and helped them make the playoffs.
He fit nicely alongside Bradley Beal, being able to push the pace and play-make similar to former Wizard John Wall. Unlike Wall though, Westbrook allowed Beal more opportunity with the ball in his hands.
However, after losing in the first round to the Philadelphia 76ers, Washington decided to shake things up. They moved Russ to LA and got back some solid pieces in Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and a first-round pick. Overall, Westbrook’s tenure with the Wizards was a short-lived but exciting one for him and the fans who briefly got to see him play in D.C.
