On December 13, 1983, the Detroit Pistons defeated the Denver Nuggets 186-184 in triple overtime to record the highest-scoring game in NBA history. It totaled 370 points, which still clears the 351 points scored in Friday’s epic showdown. That said, it’s clear that this game would have surpassed that mark if it had only gone one more overtime period.

In that game, Kiki Vandeweghe led all scorers with 51 points while Alex English had 47. Also, four players scored 40 or more points in that historic game (an NBA record), with Isiah Thomas tallying 47 while John Long also added 41.

In Friday’s matchup, De’Aaron Fox (42), Malik Monk (45), and Kawhi Leonard (44) all cleared the 40-plus mark while Paul George contributed 34. Both teams ended up with one of the top five scoring games in NBA history as a result.
