Do the Warriors have another run in them?

Prior to the start of last season, few would have suspected that Golden State would end up winning the title. It happened, but whether it can happen again remains to be seen. In theory, a healthy Curry, a fully reintegrated Thompson, Poole, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green are all the talent a team should ever need to make it back to the NBA Finals.

That may be true, but the Warriors will likely face more obstacles on the road back to the NBA Finals. For instance, they are currently the ninth seed, but if they end up with the sixth seed, they would face the Sacramento Kings in the first round.

They could win that series, but what about beating both the Memphis Grizzlies and the Denver Nuggets? That’s a lot to ask, and their poor start to the season could really come back to haunt them if they end up with a lower seed and a tougher post-season path.

Remember, the lowest seed to ever win the championship was the then-reigning champion Houston Rockets, who were sixth in the Western Conference in 1995. Like Houston, Golden State is also the defending champ, and this Warriors team is more talented, but a lot has to go right for them to beat the odds, and it’s questionable that it will.
