Can the Warriors keep up with a revamped West?

The Warriors’ relatively quiet trade deadline would normally be fine for most reigning champions, but it could be cause for concern. After all, Golden State hasn’t played all that well over the first two-thirds of the season, and other teams out West have gotten better after making big trades.

The Dallas Mavericks finally got their MVP candidate Luka Doncic some help by acquiring star Kyrie Irving. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns traded for former Warriors forward Kevin Durant, giving them one of the most dominant scorers in NBA history. Add in Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and DeAndre Ayton, and they could be a legit problem for Golden State.

Even the Los Angeles Lakers have improved and are preparing for a playoff run. All of this is to say that the Western Conference is better than it was prior to February 9th, while the Warriors have only marginally improved. It’s clear that they didn’t have as big of a trade deadline, but can they keep pace in a revamped West? That is very much in question.
