Spurs depth: Power forward

  1. Jeremy Sochan
  2. Keita Bates-Diop
  3. Isaiah Roby

Jeremy Sochan, who was the ninth pick in the 2022 draft, has given the Spurs something they’ve desperately needed: a legit power forward. He’s known for his colorful hair and one-handed free throws but has steadily improved this season, giving fans something to be optimistic about. He’s already a good defender and has put up big offensive numbers of late simply by playing smart and being more confident shooting the ball. Bates-Diop, who has been an underrated Spurs player, will provide backup for Sochan.

The former late-second-round pick barely made the team last season and carved out a small but fairly consistent role. That role may diminish despite him being a good defender and crafty offensive player due to Sochan earning more minutes during the final third of the season.

As for Isaiah Roby, when he’s played, he’s been pretty good, but he’s been buried in the depth chart. He can toggle between power forward and center, but there doesn’t appear to be any minutes for him at the five, and he will only play sparingly at the four going forward.
