No Lakers Big 3

For a brief moment, Lakers Nation thought that there might be a “big three” consisting of James, Anthony Davis, and Irving. They will always have the memories, and at the end of the day, isn’t that what really matters? The answer is no. All jokes aside, that hypothetical big three, when healthy, would have been arguably the most talented in the NBA. Factor in a capable supporting cast and a weak schedule to close the season, and the Lakers could have really gone on a run.

That could have propelled them up the Western Conference standings and even gotten them a favorable first-round match. Now, it’s back to square one, for the time being, and the Lakers currently face the real possibility of failing to make the play-in tournament this season.

That would have to be a tough pill for James to swallow. After all, he’s putting up historic numbers at 38 years old only to potentially miss the playoffs. If that happens, then Irving may not be the last superstar to ask for a trade this year.
