NBA trade candidate: OG Anunoby
The Toronto Raptors could be ready to blow up an underperforming roster and are reportedly even open to trading everyone not named Scotty Barnes. While doing a roster reset is an option, retooling the roster also remains a distinct possibility. If GM Masai Ujuri chooses the more drastic option, the Raptors could trade OG Anunoby, though the asking price for him is steep.
Still, in the post-Rudy Gobert trading era, no asking price is too outlandish. Reports have suggested the asking price for Anunoby could be similar to the haul the Utah Jazz received for Donovan Mitchell.
The Jazz received two young assets in Collin Sexton and Lauri Markkanen, three first-round picks, and a first-round pick swap. Of course, Markkanen has played at a borderline all-star level this season, while Sexton is a good player. If a team is willing to pay anything near that for Anunoby, the Raptors should obviously listen, but if they were to move him, it could be near the NBA Draft.
That would allow other teams to assess their situation and determine if they want to go all-in on Anunoby. That would also give the Raptors time to assess their own situation and decide if they want to actively shop Anunoby in hopes of jump-starting a rebuild.
