NBA: Joel Embiid, Philadelphia Sixers Center

First on my list of potential All-Star starters is Sixers center Joel Embiid. Embiid is having the best season of his career statistically, averaging a near double-double of 33.6 points per game (2nd in the league) and 9.9 rebounds per game.

He currently has the Sixers as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference despite dealing with numerous injuries to their star guards Tyrese Maxey, James Harden, and even Embiid himself.

Embiid is also averaging 1.7 blocks per game along with a career-high 4.4 assists per game. Embiid has a long injury history which will be something to watch out for as we still have about a month until the All-Star festivities.  Embiid is currently 10th in win shares, 13th in offensive win shares,  and 12th in defensive win shares according to Basketball Reference.

He sits fourth in Box Plus/Minus at +8.7 and is one of the most valuable players in the league with a VORP of 2.8 (good for 8th in the league). Embiid should be an absolute shoo-in as an All-Starter for what will be his sixth consecutive All-Star appearance.
