Following an eventful off-season, the future of the Brooklyn Nets’ franchise star, Kyrie Irving, was very uncertain. Not only was their drama within the roster, but there were several franchise-altering rumors regarding the coaching staff. This put the team’s championship hopes up in the air.

However, since the start of the year, Irving’s play has come a long way for the Nets. Though Brooklyn began 1-5, Irving has taken a major step in the right direction. This leap has allowed the rest of the team to regain their spot in a stacked Eastern Conference.

As of late, one of the biggest stories around the league has been the Nets’ 12-game win streak. While reasons such as coaching and effort may have caused this, Irving has been playing out of his mind. His ability to score at a high volume draws a ridiculous amount of attention, ultimately creating extra opportunities for his teammates.

Furthermore, throughout the Nets’ last 15 games, Irving has averaged 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 36.6 minutes of action. What’s even crazier is that he is posting these numbers while shooting 50.0% from the field, 40.5% from a distance, and 90% from the line.

Kyrie Irving should be considered untouchable for the Brooklyn Nets.

With the way Kyrie Irving has stepped up, the Brooklyn Nets’ front office should be looking to build around him rather than moving on. Each year, he has consistently proven to be one of the most talented point guards in the NBA. Outside of his scoring, he is an underrated playmaker who is always looking to make the proper read.

Irving’s star power, next to the prolific scoring from Kevin Durant, makes for the perfect duo. These two play exceptionally well with each other, leading to more potent chemistry within the locker room. As the Nets are looking to win it all, holding onto Irving should be at the top of the front office’s priorities.

Another reason why Irving should be a must-keep is because of the Nets’ injuries. Recently, Durant faced an MCL sprain which may keep him out for a prolonged period of time. In cases like this, having a talent like Irving leading the way will keep the Nets at a top-three seed.

That said, there are various reasons why Irving’s name should not be involved in any trade rumors. On top of his impact, he also brings championship experience, which can help develop the team’s future. He is the prototypical point guard for the Nets, proving why he should stay put for the years ahead.
