Landing Spot #1: Zach LaVine goes home

Okay, is Zach LaVine from LA, or even California at that? No, but he did grow up a west coast kid — just outside of Seattle — and went to college at UCLA. Not only that, but he has recently been rumored to desire a trade to the City of Angels. After all, home is where the heart is.

While the Lakers are not the picture of organizational health, there still remains the allure of playing for the historic franchise, living the Los Angeles lifestyle, and playing alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. It’s not hard to see why LaVine would want to go there; it just remains to be seen if the Lakers could acquire him.

The Lakers have been pretty hesitant so far in involving both their 2027 and 2029 first-round picks as the franchise appears to be one sneeze away from total collapse, but for a player of Zach LaVine’s caliber who is locked up long-term AND three years away from turning 30, exceptions could be made.

Whether or not you think the Los Angeles Lakers will actually pull the trigger and move their remaining draft capital, these truths remain; the Lakers are desperate, they are LaVine’s preferred destination, and they have the capital to acquire him.
