Fantasy Basketball: Kelly Oubre Jr.

Kelly Oubre’s stellar fantasy contributions have circumstantial elements considering Miles Bridges’ absence and Gordon Hayward’s injury issues.  That said, Oubre had an ADP of 135 and before some recent injury woes, he was providing 5th-round value in standard leagues.  He even went on a nine-game streak of 20-point games tying a record previously set by Kemba Walker.

On the season Oubre is averaging 20 points, 5 boards, a dime, and 1.6 steals.  His percentage at the line is surprisingly poor but Oubre has been a steady, premier asset for the struggling Hornets this season.  The long-term value of Oubre could get murky with LaMelo Ball reemerging and Hayward returning, but he’s undeniably been a value draft pick this year.

Fantasy Basketball Bonus: Delon Wright

Delon Wright might not be totally applicable, but he’s my top choice for an under-the-radar asset with tantalizing per-minute production. He’s only played a handful of games this season due to a hamstring injury and he went virtually undrafted outside the deepest leagues. Still, his ability to produce in limited minutes is noteworthy. In his final game before going down he produced a line of 5 points, 4 steals, 3 dimes, 2 boards, a block, and a triple in a mere 16 minutes.

Since returning from injury he’s averaged 16 minutes per game and has swiped 8 steals while dishing an average of 3.6 dimes including a season-high 8 his first game back.

Ultimately, Delon might be more of a deep league steals specialist, but with only Monte Morris in front of him an injury or a lineup change could quickly thrust Delon into standard league territory.
