Rockets: Jalen Green isn’t a star, yet.

Green might not be a star yet, but he has shown flashes of greatness that can get him there in the future. He is almost unstoppable in transition with his athleticism and finishing ability, and he can also step up in the clutch if needed. When the Rockets faced Dallas before Christmas, Green had an inefficient scoring night, but rallied to get 13 points in the third quarter and cut the score down to a six-point deficit.

They still lost the game, but thanks to Green’s effort, the Rockets at least went down swinging. When Green is on such a scoring spree, his confidence usually translates to the rest of the team and immediately makes them more competitive. If he is able to put up efficient scoring runs every game at some point in the future, the Rockets will be playing with a much different energy. Thus far, Green already recorded four third quarters with 15 or more points this season.

The only players with more are Jayson Tatum, Trae Young, Giannis Antetokounmpo, DeMar DeRozan, Devin Booker, and Ja Morant, who all make for an elite scoring company. To add to his list of accomplishments over his young career, Green also hit 232 three-pointers over his first 100 career games. That is sixth-most of all time in that time span.

Jalen Green has great potential and a bright future in the league, but he still has some ways to go before he reaches stardom. If he can improve his scoring to be more efficient and consistent from all levels, it would not only work wonders for him, but also for the Rockets and their future.

They have plenty of pieces to work with in this rebuild, but Green is the player who they are counting on to bring it all together, even if they get another top-two pick in the next draft.
