NBA Trades: John Collins

John Collins has to hold the unofficial record for how many seasons his name has appeared in trade rumors without actually having been traded. Maybe year four of being on the trading block will finally be the year that Collins is moved. So far, multiple teams have been linked to him, and of those teams, the Wizards appear to be the most likely option.

However, the Pacers, Mavs, Nets, Wizards, and Jazz have also been rumored to be interested in Collins according to Marc Stein (subscription required). Dallas could stand to take a gamble on Collins, who has had a down season but was previously a 20-and-10 player. Then again, he has four years and $76 million remaining on his contract, and if it doesn’t work out, he could become a financial albatross to them or any team that acquires him.

Meanwhile, the Suns have Jae Crowder and Dario Saric, both of whom are on short-term contracts that could save Atlanta significant money in the long term. With at least three teams rumored to be interested in Collins and the Hawks appearing ready to make moves, he seems certain to be traded in the new year.
