Milwaukee Bucks: Grading rookie MarJon Beauchamp’s play thus far
By Elaine Blum
At the moment, his development is not a priority for the Bucks, who would rather let their proven players carry them to the playoffs than prepare for the future. For now, Beauchamp is taking plenty of advice from his more experienced teammates and working hard in practice to get better.
Thus far, I would grade Beauchamp’s play a B-. Yes, he is scoring inconsistently and making mistakes, but they are mostly just typical rookie mistakes that many of his draft classmates make too. He is not the only rookie who is called for traveling, gets lost on defense, commits unnecessary fouls, or passes the ball right into the hands of a lurking defender.
All those issues will resolve themselves with more playing time and experience. It might take him a little longer than some of his peers to find his footing because he landed with such a strong team, but he has already shown that he can be a valuable and effective two-way player when given the chance.
He might have to be patient, but hopefully, Beauchamp will get a few more chances to show what he can do and develop this season as the Bucks chase another title.
