What Jaren Jackson Jr.’s return means for the Memphis Grizzlies

How Jackson’s return affects the Memphis Grizzlies going forward
When he is at his best, Jackson is a good three-point shooter, even though he struggled a little with consistency from three last season. He still averaged 16.3 points, though, and should be able to at least replicate that this season. Once everyone is available, that will give Memphis six double-digit scorers in Morant, Bane, Brooks, Tyus Jones, Brandon Clarke, and hopefully Jackson.
While Bane is out and Jackson is still finding his offensive footing, the offense will struggle. Morant is capable of great things with the ball in his hands, but he can only make up for so much. Once Bane returns and everyone stays healthy, things will look much different, though. With Aldama back on the bench for good, the Grizzlies will have a stacked bench filled with capable rotation players.
Right now, they have 12 players on the roster who are averaging at least ten minutes of playing time. Coach Taylor Jenkins, however, prefers a 10-man rotation, so some players will lose out on playing time in Jackson’s favor. Still, Jackson’s return gives the Grizzlies many options that they utilized last season but did not have so far.
The team will have to explore those options over time to see which ones work, but, most importantly, Jackson’s return makes the team feel more complete. He is such a vital part of their young core, who all share the same winning mentality, pride, and drive to prove who they can be, both individually and as a team. Jackson’s return makes the Grizzlies stronger, and not just because of his defensive talent.
If everyone stays healthy and the pieces all fit like they have the potential to, Jackson’s return turns the Grizzlies into a real force that should not be underestimated in the race through the playoffs and the battle for the crown. The young team will give even the strongest opponents a hard time.
