2. The Grants

The Grant family produced fewer basketball players than the Barry family, but they were arguably more successful. Their rankings could easily be interchanged.

Harvey and Horace Grant are the forefathers of the Grant family dynasty. Horace Grant was the more successful of the twins and a member of Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls team. He quickly established himself as a reliable scoring option, right after Jordan and Scottie Pippen. With the Bulls, Horace won three championships and then one more later in his career with the Los Angeles Lakers. During his career, he made the All-Defensive Team four times and was an All-Star in 1994.

His twin brother, Harvey Grant, had a less successful but still solid NBA career as a role player. He was even the runner-up for the 1991 Most Improved Player award. Harvey Grant has three sons, who all share his love for basketball and wanted to follow in their father’s and uncle’s footsteps.

One of Harvey’s sons, Jerai Grant, never made it to the NBA but played in pro leagues in Australia and Europe. His brother, Jerian Grant, was drafted in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft. He never quite found his footing in the league, though, and was waived by the Rockets in 2020. Afterward, Jerian took his talents overseas, where he currently plays for a Turkish team.

The last remaining Grant in the NBA is Jerami Grant, who was drafted in the second round of the 2014 draft and has bounced around the league a little. Now, he has found his basketball home in Portland, where he is a key player, averaging around 18 points.
