4. The Thompsons

Klay Thompson, like his fellow Splash Brothers, comes from a basketball family. His father, Mychal Thompson, was the top pick in the 1978 draft and went on to have a successful 13-year career. The center played for several teams and won two championships in 1987 and 1988.

His younger son, Klay Thompson, followed in his footsteps. He is not a center like his father was. Instead, he is one of the best shooters in the league and a reliable wing defender. With the Warriors, he is a four-time champion and five-time All-Star, making this such a successful basketball family. It also makes Klay and Mychal the fourth father-son duo to both win NBA championships and the only pair to each do it back-to-back.

Klay’s older brother, Mychel Thompson, also had certain basketball aspirations but did not quite rise to the same level as his father and brother. In 2011, he went undrafted and spent time in the Developmental League, the G League, and briefly with the Cleveland Cavaliers before retiring in 2018. Now, he works for the same successful Warriors organization as his brother.
