Fantasy Basketball Risers 4. Kevin Porter Jr. has been the best version of himself.
Talent has never been a question for Kevin Porter Jr., but finding the right fit isn’t always easy and for a while there, it wasn’t clear whether he was the right fit for the Houston Rockets. That was extrapolated when the team drafted Jalen Green and shifted Porter to point guard on a full-time basis. That wasn’t a natural position for him or his game, but he adapted and overcame.
Porter Jr. is having the best year of his career thus far and looks confident doing it. Through his first five games, the 22-year-old Seattle native is posting 20.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game while shooting above average on five 3-pointers each night. Beyond the stat sheet, he’s presenting himself as a leader on this young team. You’ll oftentimes see him giving pointers to a younger player on the sideline or cheering on his teammates when he’s not facilitating the offense.
Porter Jr. was a bit of an unknown coming into this year — especially with his contract situation uncertain until his recent extension. With security in his role, contract and expectations as a go-to option for this team, Kevin Porter Jr.’s stock is rising both in real life and fantasy basketball.
