3 intriguing trade targets to bolster the Phoenix Suns’ bench: Jordan Clarkson, Utah Jazz
If they are indeed looking to add some second-unit support, the Phoenix Suns would be wise to check in on Jordan Clarkson, which they reportedly have. As mentioned in the previous article by Yahoo! Sports’ Jake Fischer, Phoenix has reportedly explored the possibility of adding the former Sixth Man of the Year in trade discussions with the Utah Jazz. Fischer notes that the Suns could land Clarkson in a deal involving Crowder, which would be a significant win.
While he has started for the Jazz this season, Clarkson has been one of the NBA’s best reserves over the previous few seasons. In the three seasons prior to this one, the combo guard averaged 16.5 points and 2.3 assists per game, having shown that he can handle and score the basketball at a high level.
Just like with Bogdan Bogdanovic, Clarkson would give the Suns another guard who is capable of handling the basketball and taking some of that responsibility off of the shoulders of Chris Paul and Devin Booker. Clarkson would undoubtedly inject some energy into this bench and make the Suns even more formidable.
Financially, Clarkson is on the books for $13.4 million this season, so he is well within Phoenix’s range when it comes to trade targets. It is unclear what it would take to get the Jazz to part with the guard, but after seeing Utah clean house this offseason, he is almost certainly available for the right price.
The Suns should be all in on Clarkson, especially if they can trade Crowder in a deal to bring him aboard. Stay tuned to see if the Suns make a run at any of these trade targets.
