3 intriguing trade targets to bolster the Phoenix Suns’ bench – Bogdan Bogdanovic, Atlanta Hawks

Amidst their quest to deal Jae Crowder, the Phoenix Suns have reportedly considered bringing in a wing from the Atlanta Hawks. According to Yahoo! Sports’ Jake Fischer, a trade involving Crowder and Landy Shamet for Bogdan Bogdanovic has “made the rounds among front-office personnel.” While those conversations may have been just exploratory, the Suns would be wise to try and net Bogdanovic if they were to trade Crowder to Atlanta.

The 30-year-old guard has had a solid five-year NBA career to this point by averaging 14.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. Bogdanovic’s strong outside shooting has been a massive factor in his success at his level, having shot 38.4 percent from three on 6.1 attempts on average. Not only would the guard bring more scoring and shooting to the mix, but Bogdanovic would also give the Suns another ball-handler.

Having another player who can handle and distribute the ball would alleviate pressure off of Chris Paul and Devin Booker, which would help tremendously. While Bogdanovic would fit right in with the Suns, there are some concerns regarding his health. The guard has missed considerable time over the previous two seasons due to injury, and he has yet to make his 2022-23 season debut after undergoing knee surgery in the offseason.

Still, he is a player that should be on Phoenix’s radar. When healthy, he could be a huge addition to a team looking for some added reinforcements in the second unit. If they can find a way to get the guard in a deal involving Crowder, that would be a worthy swap for the Suns.
