Reggie Jackson has the rapport to start at point guard for the LA Clippers.

It wasn’t always pretty, but Reggie Jackson was an impact player for Los Angeles last season. He started all 75 games he appeared in, averaging 16.8 points, 4.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game while effectively leading the team in scoring (Paul George & Norman Powell averaged more points, but they only played 31 games and five games respectively for LA). He also leaned into his 3-point shooting, taking nearly 7 attempts per game at a 32.6% clip.

Jackson is effective in getting his own shot, but he’s never been an efficient player. His highest effective field goal percentage was 55.4% during his first full season with the Clippers, but it was also his lowest field goal attempts per game since he was in his second season. The point here is that Jackson isn’t an efficient player, but he can ball and that will take him far. He’s also been part of this nucleus for two and a half seasons including several with Kawhi and PG, giving him a bit of an edge when playing in this context.

On the flip side, he’s not a great defender and needs to show a lot of improvement off the ball to truly grasp the starting point guard position on a full-time basis.
