2. Fantasy Basketball Sleepers: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a star in the making.

There are some undeniable red flags for those thinking about picking OKC Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He’s already hurt, which is not a good sign, and so is his presumed co-star, No. 2 pick Chet Holmgren. This sounds like a recipe for the Thunder to tank for one of this year’s top picks, which in theory, would keep SGA out of lineups late in the year.

Gilgeous-Alexander played 91 games in the last two seasons for Oklahoma City, but every time he’s been on the court, the young talent has been spectacular. One of the most dynamic slashers and ball-handlers in basketball, SGA has sky-high usage which helps him stuff the stat sheet with points and assists. Since he’s lengthy for a guard, he’s also able to rebound the ball quite well and generate some defensive stats here and there to elevate his team.

Most importantly, the Thunder aren’t as committed to being horrible this season as they’ve been during recent seasons. Even without Holmgren, the young core feels like it’s building something special and they need their leader on the court to bring that to fruition. It’s fully plausible to catch SGA in your fourth or fifth round just to have him return a second-round value.

Average draft position is 47 on Yahoo, 46.2 on ESPN.
