5 teams that should jump at the chance to sign free agent Dwight Howard

4. Los Angeles Clippers solidify deepest rotation in league with Dwight Howard.
It’s hard to argue against the LA Clippers having the most impressive depth chart in basketball this year. They’re at least two, sometimes three players deep at positions one-through-four with guys who would be hugely important to the rotation of almost any team they’d play for. If the Clippers were to have a weakness, it’d be the backup center position.
At this stage, it’s not clear what the Clippers have in Moses Brown. He stuffed the stat sheet for bad teams in the past and bounced around the league since. Although the 22-year-old undoubtedly has raw talent, is he ready for the Playoffs? The same question could be asked of their 2022 rookie, Moussa Diabaté.
Unless they’re committed to playing French veteran Nic Batum at the center, it’d make sense for the team to add Dwight Howard to its championship pursuit. He’d offer a defensive boost off the bench while providing similar core skills as the starter, Ivica Zubac; making for a seamless transition when he Zubac to the bench. Ultimately, the Clippers could do nothing more and still compete for a title, but Dwight Howard has some of the exact skills they need in order to round out their rotation for a chance at the franchise’s first Finals appearance.
