6. Picked 10th in the 2022 NBA Draft: Johnny Davis

Every draft, there’s one blatantly talented player who falls into the 9-to-14 range because teams aren’t sure about how well their game will translate despite a phenomenal college season. It’s a fair question since NCAA basketball is so different than the NBA in terms of style, but true fundamentals and star power tend to prevail.

That’s why a lot of people might look back at this draft and feel stupid about letting Johnny Davis go at the tenth spot as he did. An impactful defender with a unique scoring bag and blatant leadership qualities, Davis took a huge step during his second year in Wisconsin. He was a near 20-point scorer on a nightly basis while picking up some of the toughest defensive assignments with a chip on his shoulder.

Beyond his raw talent, Davis is the type of player to outwork his competition. He’s not above fighting for a loose ball or sacrificing his body to make a defensive play; making him the type of player that coaches love. Davis is also a talented rebounder who fights hard and uses his high basketball IQ to track down the rock whenever he can.

It might take him some time, but once it clicks, Davis should make a big impact for the Wizards.
