4. Pittsburgh, PA spreads deep-rooted sports culture to NBA Expansion team.

Nicknamed “Steel City” and the “City of Bridges”, Pittsburgh is known mainly as one of the big manufacturing cities in the United States. Historically, the city has been one of the leaders in manufacturing steel, glass, and aluminum — A true blue-collar city built from the hard work of its citizens.

Like a few NBA cities such as Cleveland, Minneapolis, New Orleans, and Orlando, Pittsburgh’s population lies under the half-million mark. However, a smaller city does not necessarily spell bad news in the sports world. This entails a very engaged and dedicated fanbase. An underdog mentality with the hunger to prove they can compete against bigger teams. To have a basketball team that reflects its character would be fitting for a grit and grind city like Pittsburgh.

It’s already proven that fans will be dedicated to the team so long as the team reflects them. Historically, the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL are one of the leaders in attendance and overall fandom throughout pro football.
