3. Nashville, TN adds a fourth major sports league via NBA Expansion.

It is the music capital of the world but is also home to the Predators of the NHL, Titans of the NFL, and Nashville SC of MLS. Basketball is an incredibly big deal in the south, given the number of college powerhouses in these states. And with Charlotte and Memphis each having an NBA team, it is not a farfetched idea for Music City to have one of its own.

Music and sports come hand in hand. As a fan, you immediately understand how much the music in the arena sets the tone for the game. Most players have a “gameday playlist”: a particular song you listen to before taking the court/field. Teams like the Nets, Pelicans, Raptors, and Lakers often pay tribute to the musical history and figures of their respective cities. Nashville, where the roots of country music sprout from, can bring something new to the table in that sense.

In terms of the fanbase, the support that their teams receive, especially the newly added MLS expansion team, shows that Nashville residents do not just care about their music. They can pack an arena for an NBA team the same way they sell out big concerts.
