It’s no secret that becoming an NBA player is a difficult task. Even for the most talented prospects in the world, it takes more than hard work to make it to basketball’s promised land; exposure and timing are also very important factors. However, almost equally as difficult as making it to the NBA is staying there after being selected by a team.

Lindell Wigginton of the Milwaukee Bucks is about to embark upon his second season with the team. If he were on a mediocre team whose aspirations were simply to make the playoffs, upper management may use the first couple months of the season as an evaluation period to review roster decisions. However, the Bucks are an organization with championship aspirations. There is pressure from their fanbase to win now, therefore management will not waste time making decisions.

The Milwaukee Bucks are a perennial contender with a loaded backcourt. It will be tough for combo guard Lindell Wigginton to make the team.

Increasing the difficulty of securing a spot on Milwaukee’s roster is the fact that the team is loaded with experienced backcourt players. Wigginton is a 6’1″ combo guard on a team featuring an All-Star point guard in Jrue Holiday, and a plethora of seasoned veterans who can slide over to the point position when Holiday needs a breather. In order to stand out under these circumstances, Wigginton must be impressive in training camp and superb in the preseason.

Staying on an NBA roster is difficult; it’s that much harder for a player trying to carve out a niche for himself on a perennial contender. Let’s take a closer look at the steps Lindell Wigginton must take to make the Milwaukee Bucks’ roster this upcoming season.
