Andre Drummond’s impact for the Chicago Bulls next season: Elite rebounding

Of all the things that Andre Drummond does well, what he does best is rebound the basketball. During a five-year period, as a member of the Detroit Pistons, Drummond led the NBA in rebounds per game five times.

The last Chicago Bull to lead the NBA in rebounds per game was Dennis Rodman in 1998. Fans in the Windy City would love for Drummond to be the next Bull to lead the league in boards and would be even more thrilled for next year’s team to achieve the ultimate pinnacle of success.

Last season, rebounding was not a strength for the team as a whole. Nikola Vučević averaged a respectable 11.0 rebounds per game, but his most prolific rebounding teammate was Lonzo Ball at 5.4 boards per outing.

When the second highest rebounder is a point guard who missed a large portion of the season due to injury, acquiring another big who can attack the glass is a priority. Along with the return of a healthy Patrick Williams, the addition of Andre Drummond should do wonders for Chicago’s rebounding woes.

The Chicago Bulls are one of the most interesting teams in the Eastern Conference heading into next season. They have three All-Star caliber players and a group of elite role players who accepted the task at hand.

Andre Drummond is an experienced veteran who should fit in nicely with Chicago’s core. While his days of being selected for the All-Star team are long gone, he can still be effective and contribute to a winning culture.

Every winning team needs a player who is willing to sacrifice his own stats and do the dirty work for the good of the team. Fans in Chicago are hoping Drummond is the right man for the job.
