NBA Free Agency: 3 shooting guards that need to be signed – Josh Jackson

Since being selected fourth overall in the 2017 NBA Draft, Josh Jackson has had trouble finding stability in his career. The young guard has played for four teams in five years now, and it could end up being five teams if he gets picked up off the free agent heap.

Though Jackson has not lived up to expectations as a former fourth overall pick, he has shown glimpses of potential that could make him a worthy player to take a flyer on this late in the offseason.

In three of his four NBA seasons, Jackson has averaged double-digit points per contest, which is largely because Jackson averaged north of 20 minutes per game in that timeframe. When he has been given a chance, Jackson has shown promising signs, but he just has not been given one on a consistent basis.

At 25 years old, Jackson has not even reached his prime yet, and his best ball is still potentially waiting to be played. For young teams looking to bring in a talented young piece to get a better look at them next season, Jackson could be a quality pickup. In the right system under the right coaching regime, Jackson’s development could finally take off.

If a team were to take a swing on Jackson, it would not cost them a lot, in all likelihood. Jackson is seeking an opportunity at this point, and he could likely be had for the minimum. Signing him to a deal like that would be incredibly low-risk for any team, giving them a talented young player that could have something to provide with consistent minutes.

He is not the most dazzling target on the free agent market, but Jackson could potentially be a hidden gem just waiting to be signed in 2022 NBA Free Agency.
