NBA Trades: 3-team trade would land Terry Rozier on Phoenix Suns: The trade

Suns receive: Terry Rozier, Kelly Oubre Jr.

Hornets receive: Cameron Johnson, Cam Reddish, Derrick Rose

Knicks receive: Jae Crowder, Landry Shamet, Damion Lee, 2023 2nd-Round Pick (via PHX), 2026 2nd-Round Pick (via CHA), 2028 2nd-Round Pick (via CHA)

*This trade can’t happen until September 30 because the Suns just signed Damion Lee.

Let’s start with the Suns in this trade. They would be sending out three rotational pieces, but they would also be getting an upgrade in two areas, which would be great.

Rozier would come in and be one of the best sixth men in the NBA, while Oubre Jr. would add to an elite bench (or start at the forward position alongside Mikal Bridges).

Giving up Johnson is the biggest loss in this trade, but with his extension coming up, they may be more open to trading him away than most realize. Losing Crowder isn’t a huge deal at this point in his career, and trading Shamet would sting a bit, but for the return, it’s worth it.

Next, the Hornets would be stocking up their depth in this trade. Giving up two veteran players in exchange for two youngsters and a new backup point guard would be great.

Reddish would get a new opportunity to thrive, Johnson may be able to improve even more in an expanded role (helping Charlotte on both ends), and Rose would replace Rozier as a backup point guard.

Lastly, the Knicks would be using trade to improve their depth. If they end up gutting their young talent in a trade for Mitchell, this deal would help them replenish their bench.

They’ve been very open to giving up Reddish, and while losing Rose may hurt a tiny bit, it would be worth it in this trade. Getting back three rotational pieces in Crowder, Shamet, and Lee would help their bench a bunch.
