NBA Trades: 3 Donovan Mitchell trades for the Utah Jazz: Toronto Raptors

Raptors receive: Donovan Mitchell

Jazz receive: OG Anunonby, Khem Birch, Precious Achiuwa, 2023 1st-Round Pick, 2025 1st-Round Pick, 2027 1st-Round Pick

Anunoby and three first-round picks for Mitchell might seem like a lot, but the Raptors are built to compete right now, and adding Mitchell to the mix would help them reach the next level.

Last season, Toronto outperformed expectations, even taking the Philadelphia 76ers to six games in the first round. They have a great core but are still missing a little bit of star power.

Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, and Scottie Barnes are prepped to bring this team into the future beautifully, but if the Raptors wanted to take a leap, Mitchell could help with that.

Having Anunoby as the fourth piece of their core is solid, but Mitchell would give them an A-List scorer who could become the centerpiece of their offense, while the rest of the roster took care of things on the defensive end.

For the Jazz, this would satisfy their need for picks while also adding a quality young player. Anunoby has shown glimpses of star potential, wish is great for Utah, but he doesn’t look like he could be the centerpiece of a rebuild.

That being said, he’d be a nice piece to have as they enter their next phase of the rebuilding process. The Raptors would take a step closer to contention, while the Jazz would get younger and add some beloved firsts.
