NBA Trades: 3 Myles Turner trades for Indiana Pacers: Charlotte Hornets

As an organization that seems to have been linked to Myles Turner for a while now, the Charlotte Hornets should be considered a top suitor for the Indiana Pacers’ big man this offseason. While both franchises have discussed the framework of a potential Turner deal before, maybe it’s finally time for talks to become finalized.

In this potential trade scenario, the Pacers would receive various pieces that could be involved in the long-term future plans. Mason Plumlee’s $9.0 million expiring contract would be a salary filler, but P.J. Washington is a 23-year-old forward that still has promising upside, Nick Richards is a young prospect, and a 2025 first-round pick could turn out to be an excellent long-term building piece. Indiana would gather a nice haul while still preserving comfortable cap space next year.

It would be a simple deal for the Hornets to offload rotation pieces and future assets to land an elite rim protector as a team that desperately needs enhancements on the defensive end and at the center position. Turner would certainly help Charlotte’s lackluster defense and increase their odds of clinching a playoff spot after years of falling short.

The Hornets could also offer other youthful assets to the Pacers such as James Bouknight, Kai Jones, or 2022 first-round pick Mark Williams in a possible deal for Turner. Evidently, the Charlotte Hornets possess a handful of assets that could entice Indiana.

It’ll be interesting which trade package the Pacers prefer out of interested teams if they ultimately decide to move on from Myles Turner. Perhaps the Brooklyn Nets or Phoenix Suns could also become potential suitors in a sign-and-trade deal. Either way, there should be heavy interest in Turner on the market as the 2022 NBA offseason continues to bring action-packed suspense.
