NBA Trade: 3-team trade lands Donovan Mitchell on New York Knicks
By Jack Simone
***THE ACTUAL TRADE IS ON THE THIRD SLIDE***
The Utah Jazz just traded Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Now, they are left with Donovan Mitchell, some solid rotational players, and a bunch of draft picks.
All indicators have pointed toward the Jazz trying to rebuild around Mitchell, but what if they didn’t? Instead, what if they chose to completely hit the reset button?
Maybe that would end up being the smarter decision.
NBA Trades: 3-team trade lands Donovan Mitchell on New York Knicks
As it stands right now, Mitchell doesn’t have a great team to compete with. The best player he has playing alongside him is probably Bojan Bogdanovic, and that isn’t saying much.
Before the offseason began, rumors swirled that Mitchell wanted out. A few teams were thrown around as potential landing spots and it seemed that he was just done with the Jazz.
And now that they traded Gobert, he doesn’t have a team that’s good enough to compete for the playoffs. How long will he remain content with rebuilding?
Danny Ainge, who is now leading things in Utah, absolutely loves his draft picks. He just traded Gobert in exchange for a massive haul of picks. Why not do the same with Mitchell?
Plenty of teams will come calling if Mitchell ever hit the market, and if a team was willing to give up that many picks for Gobert, a team would probably give up even more for Gobert.
So, with all of that in mind, here is a three-team trade that would land Mitchell on the New York Knicks and help the Hazz hit the reset button.
