NBA Trades: 3-team Duncan Robinson trade for the Miami Heat: Other teams

The two accompanying teams involved in the proposed move are in a similar position in regards to their path moving forward.

The Kings’ 30 wins last season resulted in their 16th straight year of missing out on postseason action. Undoubtedly their most notable moment last season was the midseason trade that saw them land two-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis from the Indiana Pacers.

Sabonis is an extremely versatile frontcourt performer, and the Kings’ front office envision Sabonis and incumbent point guard De’Aaron Fox as a potentially lethal two-man combination.

However, the deal was widely criticized due to the Kings sacrificing up-and-coming guard Tyrese Haliburton. In just his second season in the league, Haliburton had quickly shown he was an excellent selection as the 11th overall pick in the 2020 Draft, thus the surprise at the move.

So moving forward, the Kings will be looking forward to only improving their roster, but ensuring it’s designed to suit the timeline of both Sabonis and Fox.

As for the Wizards, they also missed out on playoff action last season, marking the third time in the past four years that this has occurred. Presently, their most pressing issue is dealing with the status of unrestricted free agent Bradley Beal.

After opting out of the final year of his contract, the Wizards have the luxury of offering the three-time All-Star the most years and dollars for his next deal. Assuming they get this done, addressing the remainder of the roster remains a clear work in progress.
