While Alec Burks is not a sexy name by any means, he is an experienced NBA veteran. Coming off a year where he averaged 11.7 Pts, 4.9 Reb, 3.0 Ast on 39% shooting from the field, 40% shooting from deep, and 82% from the line, his addition to this rotation could be solid.

His two-point shooting is a little concerning, as he shot only 41.9% on shots that were 10 feet or less, according to NBA.com tracking data. On the bright side, he shot 41.8% on catch-and-shoot threes and a scorching-hot 47% on wide-open ones.

He’s also a career 38% three-point shooter, shooting north of 40% the last three years, meaning he could be the knockdown shooter the Celtics so desperately need.

At 6’6, Burks has decent size for his position, which would boast well in Boston’s switch-heavy defense. He is by no means a defensive stopper, but on this team, he doesn’t need to be.

With all the elite defenders this team possesses, all he needs to do is be serviceable on that end. From a financial perspective, his contract is also very manageable. He is set to make roughly $10 million this year and has a $10.4 million team option for next year.

All things considered, a trade for Burks would be a very solid move for the front office.
