5 roster moves the Toronto Raptors need to make this offseason: 3. Pick up Malachi Flynn’s team option

The Raptors have the reputation of being a tremendous team for developing young players. They found a better way to use Achiuwa last season and they also managed to develop Siakam and Fred VanVleet into All-Stars from humble NBA beginnings.

Malachi Flynn is an undersized point guard at 6’1″ and was not a huge factor for the Raptors last season. He only averaged 4.3 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.4 rebounds in 12,2 minutes per game. What was impressive is that he played with mainly backup players and only averaged 0.3 turnovers per game.

Currently, the Raptors are relying very heavily on VanVleet at the point guard position, and Flynn is one of three players who back him up. The sophomore appears to have a greater ceiling than both Armoni Brooks and Dalano Banton.

Flynn is also only due $2.1 million next season, which is also going to help the Raptors in that they have a decent amount of cap space available to sign more players. The other option is that he is also a good option to include in a trade as he is a small salary. Flynn gives them options.
