5 roster moves the Toronto Raptors need to make this offseason: 2. Pick up Precious Achiuwa’s team option

When the Raptors traded for Goran Dragic, the addition of Precious Achiuwa appeared to be to make salaries match. He was a big body that was good in the pick and roll, creating space for his guards. Well, that was the old Achiuwa. When he arrived at the Raptors, they saw a different way to use the big man.

They gave him the green light to shoot the long ball, meaning that he took 2.1 per game. He made an impressive 35.9 percent of them which is helpful from a 6’8″ combination power forward/center.

To put it into greater perspective, he took 156 attempts from behind the three-point line with the Raptors and only one attempt in his rookie season with the Miami Heat.

Achiuwa is only due $2.8 million next season, which is gold for the Raptors. They need to get another few solid rotation pieces into their squad which will make them a tougher team to beat. They could use another big man to add to their rotation which will be easier to get with the cap space that they have available.
