3 takeaways from the Golden State Warriors’ return to glory
3 takeaways from the Golden State Warriors’ return to glory: 3. The Golden State Warriors built this dynasty from within
Building a championship team is always a challenging task, but the Golden State Warriors have successfully done so in four of the past eight NBA seasons. While much credit should be given to Steve Kerr, the coaching staff, and the star-headed core of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, high praise needs to be given to Golden State’s front office.
The Warriors drafted Curry, Thompson, Green, Kevon Looney, and Jordan Poole, and have maintained their services throughout their careers thus far. This dynasty that they’ve created has stemmed from their own initial investments through the draft instead of through free agent signings or blockbuster trades, which is extremely impressive.
In addition, President of Basketball Operations and general manager Bob Myers has been outstanding since joining the Warriors in 2011 and should be known as the architect for constructing these championship rosters over the Warriors’ reign.
Myers and the front office deserve a boatload of credit for acquiring All-Star Andrew Wiggins from the Minnesota Timberwolves last season while signing Otto Porter Jr. and Gary Payton II to minimum contracts were brilliant moves as well.
Golden State’s management has set the blueprint for how NBA organizations should operate by building a championship team from mostly within. It involved heavy investments down the road, but it has clearly been worth every penny.
They’re not done winning yet, either, as the core is on track to return and the Warriors have younger assets that were also first-round picks by the team such as James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, and Moses Moody who are just scratching the surface too.
From the players, coaches, and front office, the Golden State Warriors have jubilantly taken the NBA by storm. Congratulations to this historic franchise on returning to glory by winning another exhilarating NBA title.
