NBA Trades: 3 trades for the Philadelphia 76ers with the 23rd pick: San Antonio Spurs

Lastly, an option for the Philadelphia 76ers could be to pursue sharpshooting forward Doug McDermott from the San Antonio Spurs. The former lottery pick shot 42.2 percent from beyond the arc last season and would immediately strengthen Philly’s shooting threats on the wing.

McDermott’s contract isn’t the most ideal at $13.7 million per year for two more seasons, but he’d be an outstanding addition to the Sixers while this potential deal would see them take in less money than what they’d be pushing out. It’s difficult to imagine the Spurs declining interest for McDermott, especially with a first-round pick on the table, so Philly could comfortably acquire him if they really wanted to.

If this potential trade materializes, the San Antonio Spurs would hold four first-round picks, which would be the 9th, 20th, 23rd, and 25th picks in the draft. They also have the 38th pick that could be offered to the Sixers. The Spurs don’t need McDermott as much as Philadelphia would value him so this would seem like a no-brainer of a deal for them.

San Antonio should be happy to take on the Danny Green and Furkan Korkmaz contracts while parting with two future second-round picks if it means landing yet another first-round pick that would bolster its stash of promising prospects. If the Philadelphia 76ers have a heavy interest in acquiring Doug McDermott, a deal with the Spurs revolving around the 23rd pick would be a beneficial order of business for both sides.

As we inch closer to draft night on June 23rd, the 76ers should have plenty of options to weigh in terms of potential trades surrounding their 2022 first-round pick.
