The bulletin board material didn’t have any effect. The casino reservations are still on. The trash talk was backed up. And the Boston Celtics are done.

After a 14-2 start in the first quarter of Game 6, Boston forgot that they were supposed to learn the lessons from their losses and faltered down the stretch.

103-90 was the final score, the series ends 4-2, and the Golden State Warriors are the 2022 NBA Champions on the seventh year of the first title they won as a unit back in 2015. Four in the last eight years.

Adam Silver may not have been on hand to present the trophy, but somewhere, he is watching and applauding Golden State for what they have done, and they deserve it. The Boston Celtics just could not stop this team.

The shirts from Game 4 have gone to waste, and the empty banner spot will stay empty. Meanwhile, Steph Curry will have another feather in his cap with a Finals MVP to his name. Also, Draymond Green gets to dance on Lucky, Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins have gotten their vindication, and the folks at TD Garden can do nothing about it.

Curry capped off his climactic run with 34 points while Thompson, affectionately known by pundits and fans as “Game 6 Klay”, finished with 12. Poole had 15, Wiggins has 18, and Green finished with 12, including a couple of rare three-pointers.

Golden State went on a 21-0 run between the first and second quarters. One that Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum could do nothing to stop. In fact, they and their teammates continuously turned the ball over and failed to make shots, fueling the Golden State Warriors’ run. The 14-2 start was compounded by Golden State outscoring Boston 52-25 to end the half.

As was stated before, this team does not value taking care of the basketball, and it finally caught up with them, and as a result, their opponents will hoist the trophy on their ground.

Tatum’s night consisted of 13 points on 6-of-18 shooting with five turnovers. Brown, who played arguably his best game of the postseason, had 34 points, while Marcus Smart had nine. Al Horford finished with 19, while Robert Williams finished with 10. It just wasn’t enough.

Many recognizable faces, including the Red Sox, Robert Kraft and his Patriots, and a former Celtic great in Ray Allen, were in attendance to watch this game, hoping for a reason to send the Garden home happy and motivated for Game 7. Instead, they witnessed a blasphemous debacle of epic basketball atrocity.

The second half was pretty much the same story – Boston watching Golden State just take over and laugh while doing so. How could they not? They seized the opportunity and left Boston panting for a break, but nothing.

Curry even pointed to his fingers and talked about adding a ring. A ring that Boston could have had if they had just played better. It’s not happening. The same makeup of a team for years, but a bit of advancement just eased the pain further, and it has not been healed.

There will be no parade, and Tom Brady can rest assured that he and his 2018 Patriots are the last Bostonian athletes to have had a confetti-dropping celebration in the city. Plenty of other things can be said, but given how the series went, the Boston Celtics will turn it over and move on.

Well earned, Golden State, you exposed this team, and you have a championship to show for it. Party on in the Bay. Beantown? See you next season, hopefully with a changed look and better discipline when it comes to valuing the basketball.
