NBA Trades: 3 Tobias Harris trades for the Philadelphia 76ers to consider: Indiana Pacers
76ers receive: Malcolm Brogdon, TJ McConnell
Pacers receive: Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle, #23 Pick, 2024 2nd-Round Pick, 2027 2nd-Round Pick
This trade would allow the Philadelphia 76ers to get off of Tobias Harris’ contract while simultaneously adding two quality guards to their backcourt rotation.
Malcolm Brogdon is a name that has been brought up as a trade candidate this summer, as the Indiana Pacers are looking to enter a rebuild centered around Tyrese Haliburton.
Brogdon would be a great sixth man, but could also play up as a small-ball small forward if the 76ers were determined to start him alongside James Harden and Tyrese Maxey.
As for TJ McConnell, he’s coming off of a season where he played only 27 games due to injury. He’d be making his return to Philadelphia in this deal and would be a decent option to be their backup point guard.
Meanwhile, the Pacers would be getting picks in exchange for Harris while also taking a chance on Matisse Thybulle. He wouldn’t bring much on the offensive end, but if the Pacers could find a use for him, his defense would be a nice addition to their rotation.
Indiana would also be getting another first-rounder in this year’s draft, as well as a couple of future seconds. And another sneaky plus for the Pacers in this deal is that they’d free up a ton of money a year early, as Harris’ contract ends one season before Brogdon’s and McConnell’s.
