5 roster moves the Brooklyn Nets need to make this offseason: 3. Re-sign Bruce Brown

The Nets were in short supply of quality defense last season. They also struggled to get a consistent lineup on the court. Bruce Brown provided help in both of these areas. He has always been a solid defensive player, and also sneakily excels as a playmaker.

Brown played 72 games last season, which was second on the team behind Patty Mills. While playing the second-most games on a squad is not the main reason to sign him, when the Nets get back Joe Harris and Simmons next season, Brown is the type of player who fits in and is happy to do what is needed.

Look for the Nets to start using Brown a whole lot more next season. Simmons is a tremendous initiator of an offense. This means that Brown will be left to do what he does best, be a defensive pest, and he will be able to do this beside Simmons.

Even though the Nets have $156 million in committed salary for next season, they should be able to offer Brown a veteran’s minimum. There is a chance that the Nets make a major trade and then can offer him more which, will help keep him with the franchise.
